Just Stuff We Love

From baby toys and cool threads to store openings and things to do with your little one. We cover the new, the old favourites and the best-kept secrets for everything baby.

Dressing Baby Green

It takes a third of a pound of pesticides and herbicides to grow enough cotton for one T-shirt, which is why we love companies like family-owned Organic By Nature. The company makes it easy to buy organic clothing and fair-trade toys online and just launched their own Organic Baby Basics Collection, including a Kimono Set (top seen here). The 100-percent certified organic combed cotton is soft on baby's skin and stylish too. Plus, the V-neck, snap top and elastic waist pants are easy to take on and off. Organic by Nature offers worldwide shipping on everything from eco-friendly clothing for babies and toddlers to organic skincare products. and cloth diapers.

Put your baby’s best foot forward

Even babies need to dress up sometimes. We love how Robeez stay on our little ones’ feet, but what about when images of teddies and fire trucks clash with their dress up attire? Now Robeez Mini Shoez offer “real-shoe” styles in a water-repellant, non-slip design with the same “stay on your foot” elastic backing. Girls can wear Mary Janes or classic boots, while your little guy will look ultra stylish in his loafers or sports shoes. (Available in sizes three to 18 months.)

The Perfect Outdoor Blanket

Even if your closet is stacked with blankets, trust us, you need one more. Tuffo’s water-resistant outdoor blanket is perfect for a fall picnic or trip to the park. The oversized blanket is the ideal size for your baby or toddler to play with all her friends. The nylon backing prevents moisure, mud and anything else from seeping through to where your little ones are sitting. (Plus, it’s easy to clean.) The Tuffo blanket also comes in a carrying case, making it easy to transport.

Chic clothing protector

Sometimes more food ends up on your toddler's clothing than in his tummy. If a traditional bib just doesn't seem to protect all those cute tees from tomato sauce splatter, there is a better option. Chic Tots has created a Chic & Clean Coverall with full-body protection. The open-back design makes it easy to slip on your child, even if he's already seated in his highchair. Elastic armbands prevent food from getting on sleeves, while a split-leg option keeps laps clean. One size fits age six months to two years. (The sleeveless bib variety fits up to four years.) When you no longer need the coveralls for eating, they make a great clothing protector for messy projects, such as finger painting. To order go to chictots.comkey in the coupon code jtfb10 and you'll receive 10 percent off your order until September 8.

Three dresses for the price of one

The only downside to cute baby clothes is how fast kids outgrow them–which is why we love designer Devorah Miller's Caterpillar Dress (named for it's ability to transform from bright, beautiful baby dress to short toddler dress to funky swing top for older girls). Miller credits her own daughters for the idea. When they wanted to wear their favorite sundresses in the winter, Miller layered them over long sleeves and little jeans and the sundresses suddenly became adorable tops. To create her Caterpillar line, Miller uses the chest measurements of a four-year old and adjusts the armholes so they won't be too big on an infant. And, thanks to her past as a quilter, she uses bright, 100-percent cotton quilt fabrics because of their high quality and beautiful prints. Miller also designs seasonal dresses, onesies, pants and tops for both girls and boys. Redthreaddesign.ca
